Review: Grande Dunes Resort 6/13/12

The Resort Course at Grande Dunes

Date Played: June 13, 2012

The Resort Course at Grande Dunes is a grande course to say the least, with as many challenges as it has amazing views. You are greeted at the entrance gate by friendly staff who direct you toward the clubhouse. To get to the clubhouse you must drive over the Intracoastal waterway. Once you reach the top of the bridge you start to see the beauty of this land really start to unfold.

Grande Dunes has 2 courses, the Resort Course and the Members Club. The Members Club recently opened for limited play to the public last year but this trip I played the Resort Course.

The Resort Course is the longest course on the Grand Strand. Stretching over 7,600 from the championship tees, this course has enough for even the longest hitters. But for most of us who are mortal, there are 6 tee boxes to choose from.

The course is beautifully crafted along the Intracoastal waterway with gentle breezes rolling in every time of the year. This is especially great on a hot summer day. The Resort Course will be closing this summer for renovations. They will be replacing the greens with champion Bermuda. This will allow for easier maintenance and better conditions year round.

The Resort also has a golf academy run by Top 100 instructor Brad Redding. There is a full range, short game area, and putting green so there are no excuses out on the course.

Come find out why Grande Dunes is one of my favorite courses along the Grand Strand.
